An open letter from to our prospective Forestry Clients,
Most software companies are beholden to venture capital firms and boardrooms. They are on a single track: extract maximum value from customers to satisfy investors. If I had to guess, you’ve felt this from creeping subscription costs from giants like QuickBooks.
At ForestTrack, we answer to a different stakeholder: you.
We are a family-run company, built with thoughtfulness from our kitchen table, small home desk, and coffee shops in South Lake Tahoe. We aren’t here to bleed the Consulting Forestry industry dry and we don’t believe owning a business is a zero-sum game.
We’re here to build a lovable tool that helps you, small and medium-sized forestry businesses that are often family-run, grow, compete, and win, while also helping the industry move forward. I’m an altruist at heart and I’m here to build a sustainable, profitable business that benefits our customers, team, and society over the long term.
ForestTrack compared to Traditional ERPs and Other Tools
The broader industry data is clear: a properly implemented ERP provides an ROI that justifies 1% - 3% top line revenue investment. Last year, with a much simpler product, the consensus from Consulting Foresters was that the value of ForestTrack sits firmly between $300 - $500+ per month.
However, we’re at a unique stage in our journey. We have a rock-solid core that our Consulting Foresters love, and we’re aggressively building out that base. We aren’t looking for Foresters who just want to invest the minimum possible and prefer dusty, “set-it-and-forget-it” legacy tools.

We’re looking for Modern Consulting Foresters
I’m looking to partner with forward-thinking Consulting Foresters: leaders who want early access and a seat at the table that shapes ForestTrack for their own company and the industry at large.
The "Honor System" Initiative (Through March)
I value your partnership and value over rigid pricing structures. Through the end of March, I am running a pricing experiment that is, admittedly, counterintuitive to every standard pricing strategy and based on the "Honor System". I’ve noticed a trend: smaller companies often stretch to pay more while larger firms try to pay less. We’re changing that dynamic.
If you are ready to grow, but the standard investment feels out of reach, I am asking you to pick a monthly or annual amount you can honestly commit to.
For Growing Firms: This is your "no-brainer" entry point to get the tools you need to professionalize your operations.
For Larger Firms up to 8 folks: Your investment does more than just secure a license and unlimited access; it allows us to build faster, give you personalized support, and also directly supports emerging Consulting Foresters as they gain their foothold in the industry.
Why We're Doing This
My goal is simple: I want Consulting Foresters and Forestry Firms to be successful. By providing you with the right tools, you are able to grow your business, create economic opportunities, and strengthen your local communities.
I firmly believe that by helping you, ForestTrack will grow alongside you. Your investment allows us to invest back into your business through high-quality features, business education, and personal support at conferences.
We are building ForestTrack for the long haul. If you’re a forward-thinking leader who wants to help shape a tool that shapes the industry for the better, there's a seat at the table for you.
To this partnership and the future of Forestry,
Hannah A. Shaffer
